What I'm doing now
Life
Still living in Norway. The kids are 7, 5, and 2 years old. I have just launched Fixmade, a marketing agency serving small but ambitious B2B companies.
Things I find interesting
- Threads. It is much smaller than Twitter/X but it is much more lively, the conversations are good, and I am getting far more reach than any other platform I use. If you also like to be active on social media but you feel you don't belong to any place in particular, let's be friends.
- The SMB Twitter (or should I say "X"?!). I am obsessed with examples of corporate folks and MBAs leaving their careers to fund a small business acquisition and run an actual company. This is a very fascinating way to change career and build wealth. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I am inclined to pursue this path (perhaps I should write about it).
- The agency model vs. startup model. Since I exited DoJo, I have always wanted to start a new company: launch a new product, sell it, grow from zero. Start again. I now think that running a startup is becoming less compatible with my lifestyle (we have three kids and my wife is an entrepreneur, so I am the one who has to take a little more responsibility in running the house). That said, I know I will work for myself, and the agency model might be the right path for me: thinner margins compared to the potential of a tech startup, less scalable, but quicker to build cash flow and easier to manage. I haven't made up my mind yet, but it is something I find myself spending a lot of time considering.
Things I'm geeking out on
- LinkedIn. I have said multiple times now that I have mixed feelings about LinkedIn. Anyway, I am trying to post at least three times per week and comment more. I'm still not at a point where I see real impact but I keep pushing.
